In the desolate moors of Grim Wolds, England, Winifred Notty arrives at the foreboding Ensor House to play the part of the perfect governess. She’ll tutor young Drusilla and Andrew, tell them bedtime stories, and only joke about eating children. But as the days drag on in the suffocating gloom of the estate, Winifred becomes intimately acquainted with the twisted habits of the Pounds family.
Mr. Pounds can’t keep his eyes from wandering; Mrs. Pounds delights in punishing Winifred for it. Between their moral decay and the spoiled whims of the children, Winifred must fight to contain the darker compulsions of her own nature. French lessons and embroidery can only distract her for so long—soon, the moonlit lawns begin to whisper, and her patience begins to thin.
Because Christmas is coming… and Winifred has very special gifts in mind for every soul within Ensor House.
Brimming with sardonic wit and chillingly precise prose, Victorian Psycho is a razor-edged descent into the mind of a new gothic antiheroine—one whose charm is as dangerous as her intentions.
